About Registered Clinical Counsellors

 

The British Columbia Assocation of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) requires that an individual who is a Registered Clinical Counsellor

 

  • has completed a minimum of a Masters Degree in a counselling-related discipline from a recognized university.
  • has completed a minimum of 1,000 hours of professionally-supervised counselling work, and has a letter of recommendation from that supervisor.
  • has several more professional references attesting to the counsellor's character and skills.
  • has had a criminal record check and is bondable.
  • has insurance for his or her private practice.
  • has completed an ethics course.

Fees for the services of Registered Clinical Counsellors are covered by many extended medical plans.
